Return of Superdog
|Airdate:||4th February 1988|
Matthew has been reading all about Superman in a comic, and at the same time as this, Sweep has begun displaying unusual feats of strength. Little do they realise that Sweep is really the heroic Superdog, an alien dog from a dying planet who plummeted to Earth, but was unfortunately followed by an evil enemy dog, none other than Butch! After Superdog appears at the Sooty family breakfast bar, Butch appears and gives him a present, a glowing green crystal for Superdog to wear on his helmet. Superdog puts on the crystal, but suddenly his powers seem to fade and he becomes ill. The others tuck Superdog up in bed, whilst Butch makes his demands to the children of the world, telling them that unless they give him all of their toys they'll never see Superdog again! The others realise that the green crystal must be what is causing the problem and remove it from Superdog, who then zooms off into action to take down the evil Butch...at which point, Matthew wakes up from the dream that he's been having!

|Butch would also be portrayed as a villain in another dream sequence of Matthew's, portraying an evil pirate in the Sooty & Co. episode "Canal Capers".|
|Although this is Superdog's second appearance on The Sooty Show (the first being "Superdog" from the 1985 series), this is the first episode to actually give an origin for Superdog. Superdog would go on to appear in two more episodes of The Sooty Show, "Superdog and the Comedian" from the second 1988 series, and then "High As A Kite" from 1989.|
