Sooty, Sweep and Soo have been away in London, staying with a friend who has an exciting, up-to-date bedroom. Matthew reveals a special surprise he's been preparing for the three friends...a brand new bedroom of their own! Matthew, Sooty, Sweep and Soo later decide that the perfect finishing touch for the new bedroom would be some fresh flowers and they head out to get some. Matthew buys some flowers from a flower shop and sits down on a bench to read, but Sooty, Sweep and Soo discover Matthew's flowers and, not realising they belong to him, pick them up and take them home! Matthew is cross to discover the flowers on the breakfast bar, but is soon touched when he reads a note from Sooty, Sweep and Soo telling him that they'd been going to use the flowers in their new bedroom but decided to leave them for Matthew instead because they all love him.

Notes of Interest

Magic Wand This episode features both the final appearance of Sooty, Sweep and Soo's bedroom that we'd seen on TV for the whole of the 1980s, and also the first appearance of their new bedroom that we would see until The Sooty Show concluded (to be replaced by Sooty & Co.) in 1992!
Magic Wand In this episode, Matthew reads some of the poem "O England, Country of My Heart's Desire" by E.Y. Lucas. He would also read from this in another episode in this series, "Hidden Talent".
Magic Wand Something of an error by the series' research department, the poem "O England, Country of My Heart's Desire" is not in fact written by E.Y. Lucas but by E.V. (Edward Verrall) Lucas! It would appear that somehow the letter "V" became mistaken for a "Y" somewhere in the scriptwriting process!
